Welcome Services

Welcome to Heidelberg.
Welcome to our Institute.
Welcome to the Max Planck Society.

We are very much looking forward to working with you and wish you a successful time at our Institute.
We provide assistance and support for new employees with their non-scientific questions about their arrival and stay in Heidelberg.

Starting work at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research and relocating to Germany and Heidelberg is for many newcomers one of the most exciting events in their lives, especially if it involves moving to another country. It also means a lot of preparation. They have to deal with several legally required formalities, find a place to live, register with the city, and get to know the Institute. We want new staff members at our Institute to settle in quickly and feel a sense that they belong. This is why we support you in all the essential steps concerning:

  • preparations before your arrival in Germany
  • tasks that need to be done after your arrival in Heidelberg
  • your start at the Institute and working at the Institute in general
  • living and getting around in Heidelberg

We offer our future staff members, and scientists from around the world a range of assistance and information to make your start with us as easy as possible.
