Mechano-Sensitivity and Mechano-Responsiveness of Senescent Cells
With aging, cells alter their internal structures and their ability to keep homeostasis. We suggest that some age-related changes in cells may affect their mechano-transduction pathways. That in turn may influence other functions such as the ability of aged mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate or to interact with biomaterials or implants in the desired way. Consequently, we screen the response of senescent cells to external forces and specific surface features of biomaterials and try to understand differences to young cells.
