MPI for Medical Research (MPIMR) confirms first coronavirus case

The MPI for Medical Research (MPIMR) is temporarily closed due to the first confirmed coronavirus case at the institute in Heidelberg. An employee tested positive for the virus on Sunday and is in quarantine at home on instructions from the authority. The person had attended an event in Schweinfurt earlier this month. After the first symptoms had appeared, a test was also carried out on the employee. Contact persons at the institute were determined and informed. The person was still at the institute for 2 days, but had very little contact with colleagues.

In order to limit the further spread of the virus as much as possible, the institute management decided to temporarily close the MPIMR. Emergency operation of the institute is maintained.
