
Max Planck House
Welcome to the accommodations of the Max Planck Institutes in Heidelberg!
The Max Planck House Heidelberg is the shared guest house of the four Heidelberg Max Planck Institutes and is available to all scientists and administrative staff of the Max Planck Society. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research and the campus of the University of Heidelberg, less than 300 meters from the Neckar River.
After extensive reconstruction and renovation work, most of the accommodations at the Max Planck House offer a new, modern interior since the beginning of 2025. Two single rooms and several apartments with one or two double rooms are available. If you are interested, please contact Anke Körner (contact on the right). - 2 single rooms: with shower/WC, fully furnished with bed, wardrobe and desk with chair. No cooking facilities of your own, but use of the fully equipped shared kitchen.
- 8 single-room apartments: completely newly furnished in 2025 with bed, wardrobe, sofa and/or armchair, desk with chair. Bathroom with shower/toilet, fully equipped kitchen with dining table and chair, as well as a wardrobe.
- 5 two-room apartments: 2025 completely newly furnished with beds, wardrobe, sofa and/or armchair, as well as a desk with chairs. Bathroom with shower/toilet, fully equipped kitchen with dining table and chairs, as well as a wardrobe.
- Some apartments are maisonettes; a banister is available. The maisonettes are not barrier-free to reach, as there is a lift but there are still four steps to the hallway.
- Internet access, TV and telephone in all accommodation.
- A spacious foyer with sofas, armchairs, coffee tables and plenty of open space is available for all guests to use during their stay.
- A laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer is available for all guests to use at any time for a fee. Space for drying laundry is available outside, right next to the laundry room.
- Covered bicycle parking is available in the courtyard.
- Bedding and towels are included in the price.
- For stays of more than a week, a weekly cleaning of the accommodation and a change of bedding and towels are provided. The costs (see “Prices”) will be invoiced. For shorter stays, only a final cleaning is provided.
- The final cleaning of the accommodation is carried out by a cleaning company. The costs of €20.00 will also be charged.
- All accommodation can be booked for a maximum of six months.
- Only employees of the Max Planck Society (scientific and administrative staff) can book the accommodations.
- No pets allowed.
- You will receive the key to your accommodation at the reception of the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research at Jahnstraße 29 in Heidelberg (400 meters by foot).
- Check-in from 1:00 p.m., check-out by 10:00 a.m.
- Single room apartment: €30.00/night; from 21 nights, monthly price of €630.00
- Double room apartment: €45.00/night; from 21 nights, monthly price of €945.00
- Plus final cleaning: one-time fee of €20.00
- For stays of several weeks, an additional €20.00 per week for linen change and cleaning of the accommodation for single-room apartments, €30.00 for double-room apartments.
Prices with cost coverage by the Max Planck Society/a Max Planck Institute:
- Single-room apartment: €28.00/night; from 21 nights: monthly price of €588.00
- Double-room apartment: €42.00/night; from 21 nights: monthly price of €882.00
- Plus final cleaning: one-time fee of €20.00
- For stays of several weeks, an additional €20.00 per week for linen change and cleaning of the accommodation for single-room apartments, €30.00 for double-room apartments.om apartments, €30.00 for double-room apartments.
- By bus: Take the 20 or 28 line in the direction of Sportzentrum Nord or the 32 line in the direction of Neuenheimer Feld and get off at the “Jahnstraße” stop.
- By tram: Take the 21 line in the direction of Hans-Thoma-Platz or the 24 line in the direction of Handschuhsheim Burgstraße or Schriesheim Bahnhof and get off at the “Jahnstraße” stop.
- From the Jahnstraße stop, walk down Berliner Straße and after 150 meters turn right into Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße. Turn immediately left into Humboldtstraße. The Max Planck House is on the left-hand side.
- By car: after the bridge, turn right into Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße at the second opportunity, then immediately left into Humboldtstraße.
